1. Submit an adoption application
Tell us about your home, current pets, experience, and what type of cat you are hoping to adopt.
2. Application review
Our volunteers carefully review applications to help determine whether the cat you applied for may be a good fit. We may verify veterinary history, landlord approval when applicable, and references.
3. Adoption conversation
If your application appears to be a possible match, an adoption coordinator will contact you to discuss your application, answer questions, and talk more about the cat you are interested in.
4. Match and next steps
If approved, we will help coordinate the next steps for meeting and adopting your new family member.
5. Adoption day
Approved adopters will review and sign our adoption contract before the adoption is finalized.
Submitting an application does not guarantee approval or adoption of a specific cat. Because every cat is different, our goal is always to make the best match for both the adopter and the cat.
We try to keep our adoption donations as low as possible. Between food, supplies, and veterinary care, the adoption donation rarely covers the full cost of caring for an animal before adoption.
Each animal’s adoption donation is listed on their individual profile. Most cat and kitten adoption donations are $300 or less, although fees may vary depending on the animal’s age, medical needs, length of time in rescue, sponsorships, grants, breed, or other individual circumstances. Occasionally, adoption donations may be higher for dogs, purebred cats, or special situations.
Adoption donations help offset a portion of each animal’s care, which may include a veterinary exam, spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccines, microchip with lifetime registration, deworming, flea/tick treatment if needed, and FeLV/FIV testing for cats. Dogs receive age-appropriate veterinary care and testing as applicable.
Please note: we adopt kittens in pairs. We will adopt a solo kitten to a home that already has a young, active cat who can be an appropriate companion.
